Extracts from te latest anouncement, the change is coming but it will take a while.
Air Weapons and Licensing (Scotland) Bill passed by the Scottish Parliament –
25 June 2015
What happens next?
The Bill must now receive Royal Assent from HM The Queen to become law. This will happen in the next six to eight weeks. As soon as the Bill has received Royal Assent, the Office of the Queen’s Printer for Scotland will produce the Air Weapons and Licensing (Scotland) Act 2015. This will be made available on the Legislation.gov.uk website (in the section on Acts of the Scottish Parliament). You will be able to download it online.
The finalised Act is a publication of the the Office of the Queen’s Printer for Scotland, and not Scottish Parliament. As such, the Act does not appear on the Parliament’s website, (although there will be a link to the Act from the Bill webpage);
· Once the Bill becomes an Act, certain technical provisions (such as those giving Ministers the power to make Orders and Regulations) will come into force.
· It will be a decision for the Scottish Ministers to decide the date, or dates, on which the other main sections of the Act will come into force (such as the air weapons certificate system etc.). This will be done by way of a Commencement Orders, moved in the Parliament.
